seeking ideas on what to do with old recycled clay

A teepee might be a novel idea, but I don't understand why you don't read up
and do a job that won't have to be done over again. Might be more fun than you
think, and it might not be that hard to do, and some of you kids interested
in engineering and architect might get a kick out of designing plans. Jan

I am associated with a ceramics program in a community art school. For =
years they have recycled clay from the adult classes to use in the kids =
program. (a combo of cone 1 throwing and cone 6 raku clay.=20
The classes generate alot more recyclable than needed. There are about =
200 boxes of dryed recylable clay ready to be reclaimed but we need the =
space and will probably never be able to keep up with reclaiming it all. =
(Not to mention that the quality for throwing is pretty lousy)

We are looking for ideas on what to do with the stuff. We had fantasized =
building an outdoor kiln but we need something that is less work =
intensive than slaking it down, pugging making bricks and firing.=20
One thought was to build a form for an outdoor kiln, put the dry clay in =
and slake it down in place and let it set up until firm enough to let =
dry out. maybe a teepee shape or some such. Start small and see what =
happens

Who better than clayart to throw the question to. We are open to all =
sorts of suggestions but would like to keep this from being a monumental =
task.=20

thanks for whatever ideas this may generate

Find a local community college or university with a
ceramics program and donate the clay to any student
who will pick it up. You're looking for students
building low fire sculpture - some of them will use anything.
