At the art center we have 11 Brent C's - varying ages. One of them has
developed a bit of a problem. When the pedal is in the OFF position it
has been creeping. I have adjusted the dial on the bottom of the foot
pedal to stop the creep, which naturally has impacted the high end
speed. The low end dial has been adjusted so much that at highest
speed, the high end is now not very fast, for many of our inexperienced
beginners this has become a problem. What I need to know is, what is
the fix? Is the problem in the foot pedal or in the electronics in the
control box?

I would say to start with the foot pedal and work on the three
potentiometers that are there. This will be cheaper than
replacing the control board . The potentiometers are of a cheap type
and consist of carbon coated on a plastic substrate . Through the
years this coating may wear thin and put the pedal out of specs.
It may be that most of the wear is in the middle one that moves
when the pedal is pressed. Try replacing it first.
If you want to monkey around with an ohmmeter you can measure a
good foot pedal and compare it to the bad one.
Fred.

I had this same problem about a month ago with my Brent C and my technician
(read husband) said it was all the built up clay dust and particles inside. He
took the cover off the foot pedal, cleaned it out and it's working perfectly
now. Good luck! I hope your fix is this easy.
