raku kiln gas regulator

Dear Cathleen,
I checked the book. It looks like these burners do not necessarily need
secondary air. If you think too much secondary air is the problem, use
some fiber and fill the hole. (wear gloves and mask)
Is the orifice the correct size?
I don't understand why you can't attach a regulator to the propane
tanks. My current burner set up was built by Marc Ward. I asked for 3
tank attachments and two burners. The three tanks help avoid freezing by
giving me more surface for the gas to vaporize. Take your tank to your
local propane dealer and get a high pressure regulator. I fire with 1
1/2 to 2 pounds pressure. I go up to 3 pounds if I feel it is taking too
long (20 minutes)! I fired one kiln Fri. and two on Sat. all day 9-3.
It cost an amazing $12. I was impressed. I refilled my tanks and I am
preparing to fire my own work this weekend.
Regulators are good things. There should be no reason one can't be used.
The threads are correct for your tanks. Don't know which burner you
built. I built similar burners to the one with the blower about 33 years
ago. I fired to ^10 with those.
So, I hope some of my suggestions have helped.
