MEL JACOBSON
Potpourri - 30 Years of Techniques
Ceramic Demonstration by a Master Potter
September 13-14, 2003 9-5 pm
Fee: $130
With 30 years of potting under his belt and a penchant for story telling
and anecdotes, Mel will demonstrate all kinds of throwing
styles......basic, hump and japanese. He'll throw a teapot the size of a
walnut and a sixty pound bowl. He'll throw sets of dishes, showing how to
measure the entire set. With discussions on kilns, clay and glaze you'll
learn everything necessary to become a proficient potter.
Several wheels will be available in the studio to practice his techniques.
Mel Jacobson is a professional potter form Minnesota. He was an apprentice
to a master potter in Japan, and an educator of ceramics for many years.
His articles, on his work, his experiences, and his unusual kiln
structures, have been published in Ceramics Monthly.
He is currently the moderator of Clayart, an online discussion group for
potters.
