Two years ago I went to one of NYC's premier camera shops and asked: what
digital camera will give me the resolution I got with my old Yashica and
Ektachrome (sp?)Professional slide film. The man said: Lady they don't make
'em yet. Something long and way above my head about pixels (which I
understand to be tiny tiny pixies with sweaters that represent part of the
picture's "message" and they line up like cheerleaders to spell out "Rah,
Rah, Coyottes, Go! " or whatever) Anyway. They do not yet have enough
pixels to equal the quality of slide film.. I do not know if that all is
true...
And the closest to it digital camera would cost well above what I can
possibly hope to afford. I do not know if all THAT is true.
Alas, Yashica died of old age. I just got a Pentax and plan to use that.
I mention this because: if you plan to take pix for reproduction in a
magazine, be sure they can work with the digital camera you can afford. And:
I have my serious photos taken by a friend, a woman who is a serious
photographer--and is armed with a superb Nikon.
Before you bankrupt yourself--consider hiring someone when you need really
good pix....
