Hi Julene,
Nice mentions...
Sincere...wholesome intents...
And...now, more fun with the focus-knob, too, I hope.
Below, and amid...the writ...

There is the question too, or there may be, as to the
quality of things.
As well the perspicacity in which we may tell....just 'what'
the 'product' is, and whether we are pleased with it
as-itself, and with (the) 'how' it is made....or the use we
(may) have for it.
Too...it is not as if 'milk' is from the 'hand'
on-the-Utter,
or variously of elsewhere...there is no 'hand-work'
in that business anymore, but for the private Farm
maybe...or very small outfit...the 'hands' are somewhere
else.
As an old long ago pal admonished..."Watch the Hands", and
morso, "Watch the eyes" ( he was talking about knives and
their attendant surprises in
Mexican 'Bars'...but it is a useful notion to have for all
situations, I think...)
Includeing this one.
> That would be the wise consumer
> choice. A dental slogan came to mind. Support those that
one wants to
> keep.
Not..."Got Teeth"?
But too....."Support those one wants to keep" is wise...and
inexorable maybe, and...
in present contexts an irony.
As...
That is what 'we' allready did.
What has been 'rewarded' hath so flourish'd.
That is how we got...to where we are 'now'.
> But then, I too got to thinking about what was really
being said in this
> thread.
Me too, if maybe in a more Zoological frame...as well a
happy pragmatic one in it's way.
> We tend to like to think that we as producers are capable
of higher
> thinking.
'We' in this context meaning 'Potters'? Or meaning ALL
'producers'? - as would say include 'milk' for example?
...'PCB's, Strontium 90, the 'pinto-gas-tank', the
'be-of-aye-tee-eff', 'nvCJd', the 'N.S.A.', 'aids',
chinee-christmas-light-prison-workshops? &c.?
> We do not like being talked down to.
This the same 'we' as above or a different 'we'?
We..so far as I can tell...have been getting
'talked-down-to' a great deal since Mr. Lincoln pulled his
'coup-de-screw-you', and much worse since Mr.
Roosevelt...much much much
'worse' now than ever...it is ubiquity...it IS the
'marketplace'. It is the 'agreement' (if parenthetical)...
> What is being said about
> the people that these items are being designed and
produced for?
Oh!
Thank you!
Thank you...
Yes...yes...yes...and yes...
Egg-zact-lee...
Yup...
And yup...!
...'bingo'...
Buh-duh-boom...
"YES"
> That they
> do not have the intelligence to support that which is
important to them?
They 'sold' what was 'important' to them...what is left is
how they get along 'then'...
'They'...we...everyone 'has' the
'intelligence'...(still...)
And...(the) what it is used in deference 'to'...or 'for' and
how so it is...is a, maybe 'the' refinement to logical
progression in the
apprehension here, and, something of the location of it's
"answer"...
> Why would anyone produce items for people they do not
respect?
Certainly not all things are as this...but many MANY
are...and....it...is...the larger 'political' context
is...the 'thing' we are culturally, global-economy, and as a
nation 'in'...
Because that is where the 'money' is to be made.
Because, for having learned the knack (or having acquiesced
to the coersions) of not respecting
themselves first, the 'rest' is made that much easier.
The absence of self respect ( and I do not mean ego-defences
as 'respect'..."Respect" for present purposes...is Love...)
IS the context, from which such (buying, and) 'selling' is
conducted. The
lack of respect for the 'consumer' of the product IS the
'product'.
The lack of self respect of the consumer is the 'product'
within-the-product.
'school' is ( among others) the political insturment for
the installation of the acquiescence, introjection and it's
rewards, in which one is made into...the product...as with
so called 'families', and, the ambient cultural tableau as
well...
The consumer's lack of self respect is the basis of the
enablement of the 'producer' or the 'service-offerer'.
The lack of self respect of the service provider-seller, is
the enablement of the consumer.
It is reciprocal enableing,
essentially...as well as some other things at the same time.
It is a 'Danse of death'...in it's way...and..in other
'ways' too...and...it takes 'two' to 'Tango'.
> And along
> that line, why would people buy from producers that do not
respect them?
See above, or, 'be-cause' they do not respect themselves.
Or maybe...they were not paying attention...
...same difference, more or less...
> It was my understanding that the idea behind the Bauhaus
movement was for
> items to be designed as uplifting to those that would
produce and use them.
> To strive for something better than what was available and
being produced.
> And I thought that this was so that there would be a
better choice
> available.
Maybe...I am not very familiar with the 'Bauhause'...
But my off the cuff guess...
Is that from the angst and alienation of industrialization
and urban, ritual as well as incidental dehumanization, in
varied sundry political
complaiscencies, there was a yearning for more of it, as may
occupy desensate ontological refinements as that.
The prospective stimulations and satisfactions may have held
that promise...or did for those suited to it.
'Heroin' comes to mind...and for the same 'reason'...another
(essentially honest enough, usefull enough and happy in
itself 'enough') product of 'Baer'...who we may know
best...for their 'Aspirin'...(ditto). Another handy
emolient in it's way...

saying that somebody

Me too...AND...there are many 'blessings' not much dwelt on
lately, or, at least (not) by me!
But I could...maybe will...
> I love the effect of the flame and personal

Or...Ingenue...
> This topic concerns me as I live in a real world where few
ever
> seek out and purchase handcrafted goods,
They fear them.
And...
Forget the 'real' world...there is no such thing.
No one will admit they 'live' anywhere else anyway...
Instead...think about 'agreements'...THAT is 'where' we
(actually) 'live'...thay make what for anyone...the 'what'
as is 'real'.
Products of 'institutions' are what we are 'taught' to
trust...never our 'own' judgement or sense...
That is (also) the 'product' many have 'bought'...it is
insideous...it is, in it's way, covert...and collusional,
and it is also, very, very 'so'.
> though most of the people that I

and treasure the

family and friends. I

substance.
Me too...I wanted a lot of (similar) things...and to some
degree it is a good formulae for
suffering too.
A 'prayer' to implore the gods to grant it...and they will,
too...nice as pie.
They like to see us get (curious convolutions of) what we
think we want.
> Maybe
> we would be better served and serve better by being less
elitest.
One may be ( one 'best' be) "elitest", whilst to forsake to
be 'an' eliteist.
Is this a Horse Turd? An 'Apple'? A 'Croquet Ball'? A
green-rubber-sphere? Or a mouldy Monkey's head?
We may be quasi-egalitarian non-elitests, and eat them
without 'discrimination' nor discernment.
We may see others do so, after all, are these approximate
'spheres' each not
'Green'? And green-is-good!
Think of this...remember this...the 'scene'...in the old
'film'..."The Manchurian Candidate"
The Women's "Garden-Party"...
Never forget that...
It is here and now and right at hand.
What we do not 'see' is the absence of us as would have seen
it...
"Is it okay to smoke, ma'm?"
"Why yes...yes you may..." ( The fellow, the permission
giver grins...)
"Tanks, m'am..."
(The lecture continues from the podium...amid the Begonias,
the Daffodills
and what...even as it does here...'here' every day,
everywhere we go...)
> Julene, who learned to sit the horse a long time ago, only
to find that

the hard work

Sigh...
So true...and there is no end to the hard-work...only (an
'end' maybe) in or
of our not doing it.
Maybe it is not hard work...maybe the hard is only in one's
resistance or conflicts to it.
Anyway...rambley now...
Stay 'on' that Horse, baby...it beats the hell out of
walking.
Hang on no matter 'what'...
I aim to do the same.
They will pull you from it too...seduce you from it...if
they have the chance.
They will fein anything..."anything"...
And do...
Allways...
Trust only other 'Horsemen', Horsewomen'...never trust a
pedestrian to do more than want you to be one too.
To revisit a mention.."where" would 'budwiser' be...with out
their 'Horses' flirting with us, to then demur?
THAT is 'all' the have TO seduce us...
...if we have our own 'Horse', they got nothin' to work
with now do they?
Yours,
Phil
