photography - question about foam board

updated tue 15 jul 03

I tried to buy some foam board at the local photo stores but no one carries
it; and neither did Home Depot.

Can someone tell me where I can buy this stuff and is there a particular size
and type I should get to make an overhead light box for photography?

Thanks!
June (who has a new digital camera and needs to figure this stuff out! LOL)

Foam board is available at many Art Supply stores, used as a mounting
board by artists and as a
model-making material by artists. We used 1/4" thickness foam board, a
drafting mylar
diffuser, and duct tape for assembly. Still holding up and working well
after 4+ years.

I found foam board at Office Depot in the teacher's supply section - I am
also sure places like Michaels and Hobby Lobby would carry it..... Maybe
also any university book and supply stores....

Go to art supply or framing shops.

It comes in various sizes. Just get a size big enough that you won't see it
in the picture. If you're just bouncing light off it, seams won't matter,
so you can piece it together. It also comes in different weights. If
you're not moving the light box around a lot or beating it up somehow, I'd
get the lightest stuff.

Hi June,

Almost any art supply store carries foam board. I think I gave
dimensions in the articles I referenced in an earlier post.
