Hello Susan
You are looking for an open Jeep for bumpy desert roads that will have
leather seats and will be sand protected.

You are looking for 3-4 glazes.
I shall give you the sand and the pumpkin

Comment:
Based on a glaze of Marty Anderson the way I made it matte and found
latter in Janet's site. This is an attempt to improve my old recipe!

You can add to this glaze instead or as an add 3% Red irone oxide but do
not sieve mix with a power tool or anything else. The badly mixed iron
will give you nice spots.
Be well

Subject: Groggy glaze...satiny matte...sandy satin...

Hi all you glaze gurus...I'm looking for a soft, stony matte glaze that
has a dry, almost velvety surface, in a buff, sand, beige, or oatmealy
color. Ring any bells? Sort of like a cross between a stone and a
satin...or like Gulf coast sand.

Any help or clues on how to build it would be greatly appreciated...

Bless your pots,

Susan

Susan,
You need to specify a cone range.

Velvet crust base cone 04

Gerstley borate 42.4
Nepheline syenite 14.2
Alumina hydrate 43.4

The base from University of FL Ceramics is translucent and will show
some slip or clay color from below. A good base for color. For your
beige colors you may want to try iron in varying amounts. Iron chromate
will give more taupe colors.

Thank you Ababi, I loved your jeep description and will try the glaze next
firing. I have a Woo yellow with tons of barium so am glad to get your
version with the strontium.

Happy pots
Susan

Oh, a cone range would be good, Michael. Thanks. I fire to cone 10 in
reduction. Thinking of cutting back a bit to cone 9, but not much
difference there...

Thanks Linda. I'm an admirer of yours, and your glazes. We used some of
your majolica glazes at my Penland concentration in Spring of 2002. They
were great.
