Hi all,
I just looked at Janet's brilliant web pages using a lot of the photos I
took at Aberystwyth this year - as well as a few of other people's too.
Janet has done a wonderful job, not only capturing the atmosphere of the
Festival and representing the demonstrators and their work, but giving so
much extra information, providing a comprehensive guide. She has done so
much wonderful work on this - I'm dead impressed!

Thanks, Jacqui! You are kind! Yes, I did my best "under
difficult circumstances" as they say! Was expecting my PC
to implode at any minute the whole time I was beavering
away... I think I only just made it too... Serious hard
drive damage apparently. Naturally just a few days outside
the one year warranty on the drive I had installed last
June.
But the general success of producing around 20 pages of
"Impressions of Aberystwyth" was all thanks to the great
number of photos YOU provided, Jacqui. You must have been
photographing as much as you were looking, watching,
listening to the demonstrations. I know you promised Joyce
and other stay-at-homes including me a good insight, but
that was remarkable!
Credit where credit is due! Thank you for the raw material!
As for the outcome... I think more and more people only
look at images and do not read text, so I tried very hard
to contain myself on the Aberystwyth section of the SUCAWS
site... A bit of a challenge when trying to write in a
style different to my own, which I know is too wordy. It
normally takes me 10 times as long as others to come around
to a point, let alone make one! No wonder I always came out
of exams without ever finishing...
I was so glad to hear someone, somewhere had had a look!
Little enough feedback so far... I had wondered if my
announcement posts had been lost in cyberspace, but see
them here amongst the accumulated 600+ E-mails. Oh, well...
I suppose it is of little interest to those who will never
be able to sniff the wood smoke or the sea breezes at
Aberystwyth! I just hope that the next International
Ceramic Festival in 2005 will profit, because there is
little enough "photo-reportage" elsewhere, and even less
once Russel takes his page down. Even the Festival home
page is very spare on details and not in the least
up-to-date.
Sincerely
Janet Kaiser - Like an excited kid on the day the very
first tiles arrived from GREECE for The Path! Woohoo!
