'Debts' are commodities themselves...
One may buy or sell debts.
One may have someone buy one's own debts if one likes, and,
if done carefully, they may often be bought for a little
more than half their amount.
Then, one may simply pay them the new amount...and have half
the debt one had had...roughly, or as well at a lower
interest.
It goes on and on...
