Hi Phyllis, early on I got the bright idea to use thin strips of copper on a batch of raku pots.....I wrapped the pots and fired it that way.......all the copper strips just melted and I didn't get any great effect. Next time, I planned where I wanted the copper and fired the pots first, putting the glaze where I wanted it. When they were cooled, I wrapped the copper strips and tightened it with my fingers and then a pliers, like a neat little seam. It was too stark of a look for what I wanted, so then I used a little blow torch on it and it got some prettier color to it. Just an idea. I am sure other potters have even better suggestions.
