This thread brings to mind a wheel I saw last year in Fosan, China.
It was a 3 foot diameter thing set flush with the floor.
While we watched a Chinese potter threw a 3 foot high urn from a
single lump of clay. The wheel was a kick wheel powered by a Chinese
lady who stood there with her back to the potter and steadily kicked
the wheel.
