Hi All,
I've been reading with interest the many questions/comments re:
thermocouples and protection tubes, especially the comments about the lag
time in temperature response induced when a protection tube is used.
A question occurs to me here. Wouldn't inducing a lag time be beneficial
in some cases where it would be useful to know more closely how a ceramic
piece may be responding to a change in temperature?
The lag time could give a better indication as to how fast the temperature
of a piece may be changing. This of course would be dependent on the
relative difference in the thermal mass of the protection tube compared to
the thermal mass of a piece of ceramic.
