What you do is unplug the power cord where it goes into the control box on the wheel and turn it 180 degrees and plug it back in this should reverse the direction of the wheel rotation. I know it sounds wierd, but that is how you do it.

If it is nor real ols, you can probably just unplug the connection and turn
it upside down and reconnect.

Subject: Brent CXC Wheel reverse

A very productive day indeed. Just bought a (used) Brent CXC.
Not my first choice, but it was immediately available and
will allow me to continue to pot until the new wheel arrives.
Problem is, it is an older one, and has no reverse switch, and no manual.
Never used a Brent before, and i throw "leftie"

Anyone have a link for either
"How to reverse the wheel direction" or
Where to obtain a manual or parts for this beast?

Many Thanks in advance,
Wayne in KW

My thanks to all who took valuable time to write in to help. This wheel =
must be O-L-D!.=20
There is no plug on the control box, everything goes inside the box as =
wire.
One wire from the plug to the box, one from the pedal to the box, and =
one from the control box to the motor.
Time to contact Brent tech support, guess.
Thanks again, all.

The newer wheels have this pug that you are talking about, older ones
don't, you would have to go inside the control box and switch two wires.
Call Brent, they aren't inaccessible.

I wanted to sometimes reverse my model "C" so, I called Brent and asked for
the tech and he kindly faxed me the schematic for wiring in a fwd/rvs
switch like on the CXC. All I need to do is drill a hole in case to mount
the switch which could be bought most any hardware.
I do wish they'd quite this "Marketing" crap though and just put a switch in
all models with all motors. It costs about $3. It's nice to have sometimes.

I know that the "reversing switch control box" that The Brickyard (the
supplier attached to American Art Clay Co. here in Indy) used to sell =
for
$116 (!) in 1995 was an item you could install to make your wheel turn
either clockwise or counterclockwise. When I attended Herron School of =
Art
(Indiana University - Purdue University at Indianapolis, or IUPUI, for
short), none of their electric wheels reversed for clockwise use. My =
husband
and I were both electronics technicians at the post office at the time =
(he
still is, I escaped!), so we worked up some switching mechanisms for =
about
$6 a piece and installed them (with the instructor's permission) on all =
of
the wheels in the studio, which were all Brents. If you would like, I =
could
corner him tonight when he gets home from work and we will put our heads
together to try and remember what we came up with, as we still have one =
old
switch assembly in our basement. The only caution that comes with our =
much
cheaper switch is that you have to let the wheel come to a full stop =
before
changing direction, which is something the more expensive assembly won't =
let
you do without coming to a full stop. Of course, if you are only going =
to
use the wheel in one direction, the point is moot. I like to have a =
wheel
that will go either way, in case I want to unwind a bit of torque on =
teapot
spouts and the like. I will sometimes throw the majority of the spout =
lefty,
then reverse the wheel to finish it off. It keeps the spouts from
"unwinding" during firing.

Let me know if you would like more info.

Yes, please, thank you ma'am!
Fred was generous enough to dig the archives for me and find the DPDT switch
solution,
but i would appreciate your take on it as well.

Okey-dokey -

John gets home around 11:20 PM ("stoopid" Indiana time {eastern standard =
all
year - sigh}), so my reply will be late tonight or sometime tomorrow
morning, depending on what is left of me by that time tonight! I am a =
bit
rusty at being an electronics technician, but hubby still is one, so he =
will
joggle my memory!
