You could combust the chips while keeping them airborne with a skinny
stream of high velocity air shot from the bottom of a v shaped fire
box. This I believe is called fluidized bed combustion. I would look at
old coal burning literature.

can a kiln be designed to fire around using wood chips/shavings or is the surface area too small to get effective heat? i've never seen anything written on this.
