My dh is doing up an ad for a pizza restaurant...now they have the best pizza going
and they have a wonderful restaurant with absolutely fantastic food...rack of lamb
etc...
here's the problem...they want to advertise with a scantily clad womyn on the front
of the yellow page ad....my dh wants to advertise...a great headline with some of
their fantastic toppings which are sensational....
I find the womyn offensive and won't go to their restaurant or order a pizza because
they are selling sex....or trying to get an interrupt that is false...however I would stop
and read the toppings and order because the toppings are so different from the
ordinary pizza places....so to me that is an informative and interesting interrupt that I
would stop to read...
what one would you vote for and please be honest....
Thanks...Bright Blessings

I do love a great pizza, Napolitana, quattro stagioni, primavera,
but if it is a choice between reading "mushrooms, prosciutto,
and plum tomatoes" or looking at a pretty woman, I would take
the woman over the ham.
What is a dh? Besides my initials?

Val -

My wife runs an ad agency, and some of her clients are nightclub chains.
They routinely run ads that some people would find offensive - but the
club owners know their audience and what draws them in.

So my first response would be to look at the target audience for the
ad. Who is it trying to attract? (Your opinion, my opinion, or others
on the ClayArt list may not be valid if we're not representative of the
restaurant's customers.)

The second thing the restaurant may be trying to do is draw attention.
Most ads don't work because they're never read. If that's the goal,
maybe you can suggest a different image to draw attention... something
unusual, fun, and visually striking.

(I recently saw an ad in a magazine that had a picture of a purple cow,
and some small text. The purple cow caught my eye, and I read the
text. It was probably the only ad in the magazine I actually read.)
