Further to my long post and as a little aside in view of Lili's
position re: the Art & Craft Movement:

Has anyone else noticed how William Morris and his ilk are being
vilified by critics in editorials of the "Art Press" these days?
OK they "failed", but at least they made a stand and paved the
way for all those who have their own studios and workshops right
up to the present day. The Art & Craft Movement put off the evil
moment when all independent craftspeople will become living
fossils by at least 100 years IMO.

Sincerely

Janet Kaiser... Last post today! Honestly!

Janet, Meine Leibchen:

From what I have read along these lines (very little), the
'Art Press' farts still don't get it. They call it failure
because its members have failed to tote it along intact on
their marches to the margins of profit, failure because they
'broke their own rules' they tell us. Bah! Wagging their
tongues because people still pronounce it sibboleth!

Life changes, chances change and make a new way, baby.

I see the outlines of a middle way in what potters like
Tatsuzo Shimaoka said in CM v.40 ns.1&2 (can you tell I've
been reading?). He admits his divergence from Mengi--that
Asian crafts movement we just can't seem to disengage from
the Western arts and craft movement-- and a capitulation
even, but a wholesale sale out? Nope.

What's the big deal? When the ice breaks, you pick up tent,
you're coming back next year, right? So the a&c movement
hit a little head wind (my metaphors grow tiresome), we
ain't giving up!

Arti 's going to call me friggin' idealistic again, ain't
he?

What is the threat here? Why the sharp sticks do you think,
Janet? They going to drop market share? Property prices
going to start to drop unless they evict the riff raff?
Do they think that either you will love the one and
hate the other or love the other and despise the one? I say
put down your...sorry, got nothing here...and take up your
Leach. Yeah, that's what I say.

Dad blast it.

Janet, did I spell that right? Did I go too far with the=20
fart thing? Vince did it.

Taylor, in Waco
