Caught the post about the kiln that didn't reach it's intended cone 6
and the runny glazes. If the kiln fired for a LONG time while not
reaching the desired temp., it is quite likely the glazes were actually
overfired. Either one section of the kiln was overfired while another
section (perhaps one with the kiln setter or thermocouple) was
underfired. If cones were not used and the kiln was relying only on a
temperature, the heat work could have easily surpassed a true cone 6.
I'm sure someone on the list can explain this in clearer language, but
I hope this conveys the idea.
