im not new to the group but this is my first post so bear with me- =
jersey has an abundance of good clay some of sitting in the open waiting =
to be used. so. jersey has good kaolinous stoneware and other types with =
and without sand,regardless of where you are a start would be to contact =
some local heavy contractors (olie mathis in egg harbor had 30 acres of =
good clay a few years ago usable but needed some temperature and shrink =
adjustment) hunterdon co. was where jordan and valentine clays once =
came from so it isnt hard to find. just stay away from dark clays as =
they may have a high organic content or be very low fire.
