I have been wondering if a rare earth could be substituted for the
barium carbonate,
I bought ten kilos of Samarium oxide a while back as I thought it
might make a yellow. It does but is very weak in color. The rare
earths are similar to the calcium . strontium. barium group in
chemical behavior I believe.
Samarium is one of the cheapest rare earths and they are not
dangerously toxic like barium.
