Hi Lily,

They had ask'd...about how to cut Bricks as were not 'soft'
ones...

I had said, "...find a pal as has a Tile Saw, or as knows
how to use a (large enough) Skil Saw with 'water' and an
abrasive blade..."

Had the questioner wondered aloud of whether they may indeed
make their own 'stilts' or risers from raw materials, I
think they would have enjoyed replies as addressed that
question.

If a Potter or Ceramic Artist may make their regular Work, I
see no reason why they may not make their own risers or
stilts or whatever as can be readily made in Clay...for that
matter, there is no 'reason' why they may not make their own
Bricks.

While I do not own a Chain Saw, I have used borrowed ones to
remove Trees as needed to be removed and it was fun Work and
paid quite well, too. One 'job' and I made enough to buy a
very good Chainsaw, two 'jobs' and a I have a few hundred in
a coffee can. I tried to find an acceptable-to-me one to
buy, and have not found it yet. I did find a very nice one
as was actually too big, a 'Mall' made 1940 with a six foot
blade as was a 'two man' Chain Saw...but I found no smaller
(say 20 to 30 inch blade) ones as suited my taste in these
things.

And while it is slower process, I'd really rather use a
felling Saw (with someone on the other end) and double
bitted Axe and a buck Saw to tidy matters up...it is so much
'quieter', so much more polite, no pesky 'C-O' absorbsions,
and too, there are no 'Oil' dripping when they are at
liesure...as if I cared about that!

Anyway...

I agree it is a little silly to indulge in empassioned
purchases of 'one-time' Tools, when recourse to some friend
or able stranger might get the job done.

But this is by no means limited to gender...or if with
'Tools' it is heavily on the masculine side, certainly with
apparal and accessories and household brick-a-brack, the
score more than 'evens'...

No?

At least broadly in the culture anyway...

Yours!
