Please join us in welcoming nationally known potter Suze Lindsay as she =
talks about Suze form, surface and her approaches to new ideas when making =
utilitarian pottery. She will demonstrate various techniques pertaining =
to her work: throwing, altering, darting and stacking. Emphasis will be =
on surface enhancement using slips on leatherhard pots. Slides of =
historical and contemporary references and inspirational sources will be =
shared Friday evening before the workshop.
Suze Lindsay received her MFA from Louisiana State University in 1992, =
after completeing a two year fellowship study at Penland School of Crafts =
in western NC (1987-1989). She was a resident artist at Penland School =
for 3 years, then settled in the area where she and her husband, Kent =
McLaughlin, own and operate Fort Mountain Pottery. She has taught =
workshops at numerous art centers and universities, including Penland =
School of Crafts, Arrrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Haystack Mountain =
School of Crafts, Anderson Ranch Center, Ohio University and Tulane =
