Relief in Red with Alfredo Ratinoff
Saturday/Sunday, October 11/12, 2003; 10am - 4:00 pm

Have you ever admired the red terracotta reliefs from the times of Pompeii =
and the Romans? This is your opportunity to learn the technical skills =
involved in building and sculpting your own reliefs. Working with large =
slabs of clay participants will learn various ways to create and sculpt =
their designs. They will work with texture and different finishes of =
glazes and patinas. Alfredo will also demonstrate the use of different =
terracotta clays and how to fire and install these types of pieces. This =
is an ideal workshop for the mural lover, the sculpture lover, and =
especially artists interested in learning more about how to work in relief =
for public commissions

Alfredo Ratinoff was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He studied at the =
National School of Ceramics in Buenos Aires, and then in Madrid, Barcelona,=
and Florence. He is a Lee Arts Center resident artist in ceramics. =
Alfredo specializes in large murals and has been commissioned extensively =
throughout the U.S. and by major corporations.
