Jerry Dean,
Does the pinholing occur where you have trimmed? Even the smallest of holes
or drag lines caused by your trimming tool dragging the grog in the clay
will cause pinholing in your glaze. Some potters I know will coat the
outsides of their terracotta with slip or terra sig to avoid this. I just
take care to burnish that area so it is as smooth as the untrimmed areas.
