cracks in my vince

Howdy all:

Well I think Vince is starting to show a little stress
cracking around the temples. We mighten wrap his head
with damp paper towels and cover him up in a plastic bag
for the night.

If people would not assume that to withhold the term
"handmade" from someone's work is some veiled insult some
some cracks would disappear. Not Vince's cracks mind=20
you but perhaps some of ourun. I know that when my elbows
and wrists begin to go (maybe sooner than you think) I=20
am going to look at whatever method keeps me in clay. =20
It's just too fun to stop. I will however be open in my
manufacturing methods. I will make it a point of pride
to tell how I do things. Often people assume that when=20
someone makes pottery that the method is wheel or hand build.
They don't (or do) realize that more industrial methods are
used by small potters too. Every way that keeps us busy
and happy in our shop should not be thought of as bad. For
some reason that assumption was made early on and was not=20
intended, I'm sure.

Potters like Vince and David (they don't agree sometimes)
have very specific understandings of the technical term
"handmade" and accordingly have very specific thoughts on
what gets the label. I for one am dying to call someone
a crackpot here, but I can't seem to work it in anywhere.
Unlike Vince and Dave, I will take a more generous
interpretation of "crackpot" and include the majority of
us in that category.

Taylor,

Hey.... ya' missed me........ throw me in there too with David and
Vince......... as the only person ever to get Vince to move to the "right=
"
. I am proud to believe in the importance of such issues in my life.
