I was asked by a friend to pass this on:
Rosewood Gallery in Kettering, Ohio, announces a call for entries for
Earth In Balance 2003, A Regional Clay Competition. The exhibition
will be held November 3 through December 12, 2003. Clay artists
from Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and Kentucky are invited to submit up
to 3 entries, for $15.00. Jurying will be done from slides. The entry
deadline is October 15, 2003; entry forms are required; forms may
be photocopied. All types of fired clay pieces are eligible, but not
mixed media: they may be wall pieces, functional, decorative,
sculptural, etc. The work can have a maximum height, width and
depth of 36" and must address the theme: Earth in Balance.
The juror for Earth in Balance 2003 will be Marty Shuter, a ceramic
artist and educator from Columbus, Ohio. She teaches 2-D and 3-D
foundations courses at Ohio State University in Marion, where she
is also the Coordinator of the Kuhn Fine Arts Gallery. Her recent
exhibits include a 2002 solo show at the Clay Studio in Philadelphia,
as part of its emerging artist exhibition series, and group shows at
the Vermont Clay Studio and the 2002 Orton Cone Box show. She
exhibits in solo and group shows extensively, including at Rosewood
Gallery's first Earth in Balance last year, in which she won an Award
of Excellence. Shuter will select the exhibitors and award prizes
