Donald, I do not think my answer is enlightened, but when I changed
to standup throwing, I found my support leg (left) did something
harmful to my lumbar spine, though I never was a production potter.
Someone suggested that I place the foot rheostat on a table next to
the wheel. I now have it on a shelf next to the wheel at a good height.
Sure, it gets dirty with clay, but never enough with the length that
I use it to need wiping off till I have quit for a time.
If this doesn't answer your question as you hoped, at least it is
a possible solution.

Wayne,
Thanks for your input. I did try Saran wrap before, but it tends to come
off pretty quickly. This stuff cost me $10 and will last my lifetime (of
course I am pretty old!) and does not need to be changed for months. So, =
I
think it was worth the extra pennies. It is pretty sturdy stuff, and if a=

end comes loose, it can be pressed back again and sticks.
Thanks again.

Hope this helps.

Always save a few pennies if you can. They add up
and you can buy more clay.

Any chance you could come up with a name for this "blue stuff"? Or did I
miss that in earlier posts?
Thanks=20
