John/Dave

I could just turn around and ask Tony H to help
me out on the Shino thing, but there are some
things Tony refuses to do. Raku, woodfire and Shino's.
No convincing him otherwise will help, his mind is
set.

Dave and yourself both mentioned adding Lithium to
the glaze may help. Tony agrees. I will try the adjustment.
A typical Shino glaze has an expansion over 8.50 YIKS
a glaze expansion should be between 6 and 7 .
I have used insight to try to lower the Na replace it with
other fluxes, etc... still a expansion of 8.
I can live with some crazing, but when it weakens the body
to the point that it easily breaks on people than I feel bad.

Your Shino sounds interesting. I have no lithium in mine.
I may look at adjusting the clay and glaze to fit but one thing
is for sure I don't want to loose the effect of Shino. It is to yummy.
