I have a large (36X30) electric kiln manufactured by Jensen. It has had new high fire elements in it which have lasted about 10 firings. The thing is slower than molasses in January (that's up north Jan.) to reach temperature. Cone 07 in 18-24 hours. Can I just use the switches and controls from one of the scrap paragon kilns that I have and redo the elements? I need the size but can't afford the electric bill for this kiln. I also have new elements for another kiln, Ultimate, I think it is called which is the same dimensions of my TNF82 Paragon. I need to replace the top element in that. Can I do that with what I have? I have emailed Axner's and paragon about prices and availability of the elements with no response and I really need to fire this stuff. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Beth

If you talking about swapping a three position switch ( low, med , high,
off) then yes they can be changes. You should double check that both
switches are marked for the same voltage and amps. When it comes to
elements you need to know what gauge wire, and length to know if they are
interchangeable. I have always found Euclid elements 1-800-295 5456 to be
easy to work with and fast for kilns element replacements. Duralite 1
860-379-3112 has also been equally helpful and fast.

Beth, the switches and elements of kilns are not ordinarily
interchangeable. Switches are rated by amperage. If the element pulls in
more than the rated amperage for a switch, it will burn up the switch
and possibly the wires connected to the switch.
The spare element you have might work on the Paragon TnF-82 if the ohms
matched. Then again, it might not. The gauge of element wire should also
match. If the stretch length is different, you may have difficulty
getting the element to fit the kiln.
