I got a few e mails about my post. I will reiterate. If your
Brent pedal seems to lag, fail to respond, or the wheel keeps creeping
when you stop, check the tightness of the bolt assembly that goes
through the pedal housing. You will need a couple tools, I used a
crescent wrench inside and a vise grip outside. You want to loosen it
just enough that the shaft wil rotate freely when you move the pedal.
You will see that nylon arm move. If you can push the pedal and the
arm refuses to move, the assembly is too tight. I suspect an occasional
Brent is overtightened when they are assembled in the factory.
As for noises, if you are hearing chirping when your Brent runs,
ask Amaco to send you another belt. Mine chirped LOUD when new, drove
me nuts. Brent sent me another belt with more ribbing than the
original, it quieted down. Check the archives, some people had success
with belt dressing, I believe. C. A. Sanger
