I am getting back into throwing again after a long time of hand building. My question is, " How much clay is normally used for a vase form of about 14-15 inches in hieght?" At the moment I am using about 12 lbs taking into consideration leveling the top, bellying out to about 9 inches in diameter and triming the foot. Once triming is done I usually have about 1/2 to 1 pound of clay off of the pot. What tricks do you use to throw lighter? I center wet (with slip not straight water) and throw fairly dry.
