I didn't ask to see the pots of the critic. This is a misquote. I did,
when asked, offer up my own work, mostly not pots. I don't think that
the quality of my pots has any bearing on the truth of what I say, just
on others expectations of its truth.

As to other comments about eccentric or wobbly throwing, I would be the
last to criticize this. The bump I refer to is the one that shows up in
the bottom two inches of a pot that indicates a very uneven wall
thickness. This deffect is known to me a lead belly.
I know this bump well becasue I see it in my pots...too frequently. It
is a sign of my poor skills, and when it showed up in Bernard Leach's
pots it was a reflcection on his skills too. I was serious when I
talked about his sensitivity. Sometimes I see the effect of the
sensitivity on the overall effect of his forms, other times I wonder
what part of the form is bringing about the overall effect. I also see
lead belly.

The question should not be ," Malcomn " show us how your work is
better" The question ought to be, " show me what is wrong with Leach's
work". To attack back or even hold a mirror up to his attack is not
particularly enlightening.

back from a short camping trip on the River Frio, lots of limestone,
some flint, no granite, and cool water.
