It might be a lead glaze. Many of Pewabics were
leaded. Although you mention 50 years, the formula
might be older.

The Newcomb glazes did contain lead. I have all the info on the original.=
I know I couldn't reproduce that--I don't even want to try since I want =
the glaze to be food safe (and safe for the person making the glaze too).=
'I'm trying to get something of the look with a stable, food safe glaze.
