salty pyrometer

our salt kiln at the farm has about 60-70 firings on it.
we have an old pyrometer stuck in that thing and
it does not have a sleeve..it was coated with itc 100
the first day...we sprayed right over it.
still works like a charm.

some of the older brick near the base of that kiln
are starting to take some heavy hits. melting.
we have not re/coated it with itc 100.

i have a hunch we are going to `not salt` it any more.
just use it as a stoneware kiln. it is such a nice
kiln that we are thinking it foolish to destroy it with
salt.

the modules are in perfect shape. (roof and door.)
most of the upper soft brick are fine too.

anyway, paint the ends of your pyrometer with itc 100
and you will get hundreds of firings. and, it does not change
the readings at all. (it makes a tiny sleeve, very thin.)
