Went to Ariz to visit my mother and go to the opening reception of
Xiaoping's exhibition of ceramic world leaders called the "Time Square
Series"
The Arizona State University Art Museum's Ceramic Research Center,
Tempe, Ariz has two related exhibitions drawn from the ceramic
traditions of Yixing, China. The second exhibition is "Beyond
Boundaries: The Yixing Ifluence on Contemporary American Ceramics". The
exhibition is up Oct 3, 2003 through Feb 7, 2004 and is worth a visit.
It was great to see one clayarter at the reception, Mishy Lowe
It is fun to try and figure out who the world leaders are. There is a
chart on the wall telling you who they are if you don't know. I bought
the catalog ($17) and wrote down the names by the figures.
I met Xiaoping when I participated in The International Symposium and
Clay Art Exhibition in Yixing in 2001. The American group I was with led
by Po Zhou of Chinese Clay Art were invited to his home and studio.
Next weekend, Columbus, Ohio and the opening reception of 21st Century
Ceramics exhibition which I am honored to be in.

ps I couldn't do all this reception hopping if Charley Brown didn't work
for United Airlines.
