Hi Debra,
I have an older Randall. I wanted to buy a new kick wheel. I saw the same
problem with all of them and consequently decided NOT to buy one.
None of the new wheels have totally enclosed splash pans. The front 1/2 of
them is totally open. Where does all of the water and slurry sling to? Right
out the front. The manufacturers told me that I could put large sponges in
the front on each side of the pan to catch the mess...in my opinion "totally
unacceptable". Also, if you want to put a plaster bat on the wheel head the
bat is higher than the splash pan..What a mess that will cause.
The Randall wheel has NONE of the above problems but they are out of biz.
One of the manufacturers told me that it was too expensive to make the wheel
with an enclosed splash pan. Seems ridiculous to me as this Randall that I
have is anything but complex. Put a little pressure on these manufacturers
and they will make appropriate products.
If I am incorrect then please tell me as I really want to buy a new wheel
but not under these circumstances.
