What follows may sound like "the sky is falling" but I have quoted my
source.
Be very careful with the B6. I know this is from a diabetes magazine, but
the info applies to everyone. In the June 2003 issue of Diabetes Forcast,
published by the American Diabetes Assoc., there was an article about a
woman with diabetes who had carpel tunnel syndrome. She took various
remedies, B6 being one of them. She started showing symptoms of diabetic
neuropathy. Eventually, her problem was traced back to the Vit B6 she was
taking. She had neuropathy caused by the B6, not her diabetes. "Higher
doses of B6 (1000mg per day) are known to cause nerve problems leading to
uncoordinated movement, such as a staggering walk and poor balance. Women
taking 500 to 5000mg per day of B6 as treatment for PMS have shown signs of
peripheral neuropathy within one to three years of B6 use. Even doses as
low as 200mg per day have been reported to cause such problems."
It may not seem very clay related to talk about this but I think that
potters tend to be a rather independent bunch -"I can do it myself" - and no
one likes paying large medical bills for someone to shrug and write out a
prescription and dismiss us out the door. It pays to research BEFORE
self-medicating. I am the worst culprit of this activity but I have learned
my lesson, mostly.
Best regards,

I agree with Carol's warning about B6. The B complex is synergistic,
which means that if you take too much of one B vitamin, you can be
depleted of others. If you use B6 for wrist pain, it should be for no
longer than 3 months. A great source of natural B complex is brewer's
yeast.
By the way, alpha lipoic acid does wonders for diabetic neuropathy.
I'm no expert, of course. I'm just tossing out ideas that you can
discuss with a professional.
Sincerely,
Arnold Howard
