From your book. They are very green. At least that is what I am getting.
Could copper in the kiln be turning them that way? or Too low firing? or To
thickly applied? or Ingredients? or Hmmmm?
Your input?

Hi Bunny,
Aw shucks, I wanted to see what Ron had to say. I would look in 2
places for starters. Rutile can sometimes cause cobalt to go green. It
certainly does in the zinc-based glaze we illustrate on pages 100-101,
but it can in other situations also. Since there are a large number of
different grades/varieties of rutile being sold, yours may behave
differently than mine. If there is any in the glaze you are having
trouble with--and there is in most of our glazes--cut it in half and
give it a try at that level.
Secondly, there has been some bad cobalt reported at times. I tried to
find some this last summer and couldn't, but I'm certain it was there a
while ago and still may be in the inventory of some of our suppliers.
Try some cobalt from a different supplier--and not the cheapest
supplier you can find. Rather go for one whose quality you trust.
Regards,
John

The REAL reason Ron Roy is sending this to John is because
he abhors blue glazes.
His mother made him wear a blue sailor outfit when he was a
child, and he has hated blue ever since.
Never, never ask Ron Roy about blue glazes. Don't even
think about showing him one.
