Thanks for your info about firing temp.
I agree that the gloss would be effected by a higher temperature, but strangely enough I am now firing to cone 5 whereas I used to fire to 6-7. So, if anything you'd think it'd be more matte. Go figure.
I got fed up with it all for a while, and was doing other things, but am now ready to mix new test batches and set up a "serious" series of test trials on different clay bodies, slips and at different temps.
