is the ocher slip you apply , applied to the bisque pot as in
Ko Biki ( white slip)?.

Hi John,

No, it is applied leather hard. At Shimaoka's workshop, we dipped
pots. At my workshop, I usually brush it on, either with a regular brush
or a hakame brush. I've been cutting the ocher with my hakame slip, about
one part hakame to 3 parts ocher.

All Shimaoka's slips were screened. I don't screen mine. I
prefer some coarseness for the texture.
