I volunteer at the local HS teaching wheel throwing which means I also help
maintain the wheels. The school has an older Brent that has a broken
component which I cannot find anywhere locally. The wheel has a horizontally
mounted motor which goes thru a transmission and then to a coupling before
going thru the base to the wheel head. I have posted a picture of the part
since it is hard to describe ...

If anyone has one of these or knows where I can get one, please drop me an
email ...
Thanks ... don

Don,
If the part is the wheel head shaft, take it to a local machine shop and
have them press it apart on their arbor press. They can easily replace the
bearings and the cost will be very low. I don't see any keyways in the shaft
which is bad in a high torque application, so I would look into replacing
the conventional set screws with dot point set screws and drill in the
appropriate depth holes where they need to be to increase the torque
handling capabilities.

Not dot point set screws, dog point.
Spell checkers don't pick up what you mean, just whether the word is spelled
wrong.
Dog Point set screws have a cylindrical rod at the tip. You drill a hole
slightly larger than the dog into a shaft and this kind of set screw cannot
slip and scar up the shaft like a conventional set screw.
