In a previous post I wrote ...
"Trust me ... if you are going to be running your own
pottery business you have got at least three real jobs."
which prompted this reply .....
'That is hardly supportive. Some of us live in economically depressed areas
that don't provide one job for a person, much less 3.'
What I meant was .... running your own pottery business entails doing at least three jobs
well .... not doing three jobs somewhere else. For instance, when you run your own
pottery you have these jobs ....
1. All aspects of making the actual pottery
2. Wise and timely purchasing
3. Bookkeeping
4. Marketing & Sales
5. Research and Development
6. Cleanup
7. Maintenance of equipment
That poster also said ....
'Some of us are no longer depending upon the "benefits" provided by employment by
creating American made products and hoping Americans will buy them in liew of
Chinese junk. '
I would say that the biggest problem with imports today is that they are not junk. The
pottery items being imported from China, Italy and France are giving excellent value for
the money .... competing with junk is easy .... competing with these guys is not.
Chris Campbell - in North Carolina - and YES !!! the kiln load is beautiful .... the porcelain
is ringing a pure sweet note and is softly translucent and wow ... and wow !!!
I yam a happy camper.
