Ok, we are discussing footringing plates and footringing in general so
could we expand the discussion to talk about glazing inside the footring or
not? And how this may vary with the type of pot, e.g footringed plates vs
footringed mugs, one is glazed and the other not. Or all are glazed...
Any thoughts?

BTW Hank, your roller is wonderful. My son just discovered a "way cool" use
for it until I made him stop; rollering ants. Crunch 'n go.

I do glaze the inside. I have tried it both ways, and, to me, it
looks more "finished" with the underside glazed.

Carol, my pots are all glazed inside the footring. I use a ruler to
place across the footring to make sure there is enough space there,
so the glaze does not touch the shelf. For me it is a matter of
aesthetics, and choice, plus the tactile quality of the piece. I
fire mostly porcelain, C/10 reduction.

Aside from practical reasons, it's really a nice detail to find the inside
of the footring glazed. Especially if the potter has added a bit of
decoration there or continued the decoration down into it.
