This thought crossed my mind the minute I turned off the
computer!
the other reason I am attracted to Marta's work is that
with regard to the objects themselves as well as her
process:
to me , speaking as the viewer:
it is all about the clay
The story is about the clay , the main actor is the clay,
Marta is the director and the maker, the one who makes it
happen
but she always lets the clay take center stage and take the
bow.
the way clay moves when handled by someone who is
appreciating and furthering the way clay moves.
the way the clay moves from her hands is what allows
the form to emerge,
the way the glaze and the fire play on it.
This is not an accident, it is a process
and she practices it and applies it
and applies aesthetic decisions and direction to it.
but still lets the clay shine.
