polymer clay and porcelain...and stoneware

Hi Everyone,
I have been reading and gleaning information from this list since January,
but this is my first post :)
I use the Polymer clay techniques in fine white Stoneware (200mesh).

The "Skinner Blend" which is the colour gradient technique works best if you
have a spray caninster with a little vinegar.
You can do everything that they do with polymer, except you have to be more
careful of drying out (hence the spray cannister) and also if you are doing
logs and canes, letting the design "rest" before reducing is a really good
idea.

As you can imagine, New Zealand is not exactly the Meca for coloured clay
work, so I have had to teach myself entirely. If I can share any tips, lease
LMK.

At the moment I am doing everything from Agateware to highly detailed logs
inlaid in Agate sheets.
I'd love to know if anyone else here is doing this and whether they have a
website ! (I have seen all the sites listed in the main search engines and
I'd love to see more of this done )

Thanks to everyone, BTW, for contributing so much info. to Clayart !!

Rachel.

(soon to be Akaroa Agateware)

I am not doing a workshop at Lisa Skeen's next May, but we were talking

about scheduling a colored clay workshop for May 2005. I'll have to see how

many students she can accommodate. If she can do it, maybe you and I ought

to teach a colored clay workshop together. That way we could trade all our

techniques while we are teaching them to everyone else! What could be

better than that?

If ALL of us got to come. :)
