salt/soft brick

yes, we are of the opinion that just itc and soft brick
do not a salt kiln make.

if one could dip the entire brick in itc 100, and make
sure the salt could not get in the cracks i would
say go for it.

the best solution to date is tile or veneer the kiln
with ceramic fibre soaked in itc 100.
this does work. the parts of our experimental kiln
that have the soft brick covered with fibre are
in perfect shape after about 80 firings.
all the fibre modules look like new.
some of the soft brick is starting to rot, and it
is coming from behind the brick to the front.
it is seeping into the cracks and attacking from the rear.

Would it be possible to see the tiled bit ? A photo? Sounds like a solution
I can use that will cost less in freight and fuel!
Steph - always looking for a perfect solution!
