OK I have to share my experience this morning, because it was easily the
most beautiful thing I have every seen and it actually brought tears to my
eyes!

Maya (my dog) and I were on our normal daily walk to the park by the beach-

you know, when the waves are very big, how as the wave approaches the shore
and grows toward the sky before it starts to white cap and crash down- if it
is tall enough the light shows through and makes the water in the wave a
celadon green color and a bit translucent..

out of the corner of my eye I saw 5 or 6 dolphins parallel to each other
angling down toward the sand like a surfer would right in the iddle of that
translucent celadon wave

to see their large bodies in perfect formation inside this massive wave- was
incredible. so, obviously my full attention turned toward the water and
after the wave crashed- two of them jumped out of the water- their whole
bodies were in the air!

for the next half hour I watched as they did this over and over again- one
time three of them were inside a wave like I said before but they were, this
time, facing straight toward the beach so you could not see their whole
body- just their face- and as the wave began to fold over, they all, at the
exact same time, turned parallel to the beach and swam along the shore for a
good 20 yards or more as the wave curled behind them.

they were just playing in the waves. what a beautiful sense of freedom they
displayed! It was so wonderful to watch them play... so simple and so
natural.

Or one could see it metaphorically from a lighter perspective...

I wonder if one of them goes out in the morning and is like "hey you guys, I
just went to get some plankton from the rocks by the edge of our world and
the waves ROCK- y'all want to go mess around for a while and blow off the
WAM (Whale Avoidance Meeting) at sponge bobs house?"
