love affair with a bagwall

My old two chamber kiln had 2- 6 foot tall narrow chambers. It required a
bagwall to get the flame up to the top of the arch. After the firing i
would find myself in the firebox with a flashlight looking at the bagwall
saying " I want my pots to look exactly like that". So I tore out the
bagwall and I started to make tall cylinderical jars to serve as the
bagwall. God, they were lovely. If I thought I required a bagwall in my gas
kiln I'd make vases to serve as the wall. They would get hot as a Southern
girl on prom night on the burner side and would probably be my favourite
pots in the kiln. Why should bricks get the best spot in the kiln. One time
I even made the bagwall for the woodkiln out of 4 x4 tiles destined for
countertops. I wadded every single one of them. Lots of damage. Another
brilliant money making scheme down the drain.
Pots make the very best bagwalls.
cheers,
Tony
