Hi Karen,
We wholesale lots of Raku on E-bay and encourage folks to pay with Paypal.
Never had a problem, though I have heard of folks who have. (See Clayart
Archives, wasn't there a thread about this recently?) I would advise
keeping a seperate bank account for all paypal transaction, and also, don't
leave any funds in the paypal account. Transfer it out on a regular
basis. Don't even leave funds in that special bank account for Paypal.
Transfer that out to you checking or savings account regularly. That way
if they ever develop a beef with you they can't hold any fundage of
consequense.

Our only gripe is the expense. They take a little for each transaction.
It adds up. Oh well. If you wanna play, you gotta pay, as they say.

KArin,

Had no problems using their service. If a customer wants to use Paypal, they
add 2.9% to their total (what paypal charges me). They pay for the
convenience of using the service. I otherwise, accept money orders or
cashier's check. From my long standing collectors, I accept a personal
check but prefer the former.

Thank you.

Hello Karin,

I've used Paypal for what seems like ages for all sorts of transactions and
have never had a problem.
I started using eBay in 1999. It seems like the sign up for Paypal wasn't
much after that.

I do have Paypal linked to a separate account in a separate bank. When the
money comes in, I write myself a check and deposit it in my other bank. It
seemed wise to keep my internet transactions separate.

Hi Karin,

I use the paypal service for recieving payment in a variety
of transactions...or...especially those where there is
geographical distance interveneing ( as 'Over Seas' or
whatever, or if someone merely wishes to use their Credit
Card...)

I never let more than a couple hundred bucks sit
there...(Well, there has seldom been a need to be too
vigilant on that anyway, but...)

I transfer whatever balance is in there to my Bank account
( which is free, while if you want paypal to send you a
check, it costs a a few dollars as a fee...)

There are stories of peoples account balances going
'poof'...so I feel it is well advised to not allow the
balance to get very large.

I have had no troubles ( knock on Wood!)...

I used to buy from EBay frequently using PayPal. One month a small item
appeared on my credit card, maybe $20 or thereabouts. I checked it out and
evidently I'd been signed up for some monthly teeny-bopper sort of thing. I
spent more time than you can imagine trying to straighten it out.

In the end my credit card refused to pay. However, PayPal refuses to accept
my explaination and won't allow me to use their services anymore.

Also, after charging the first $1,000 through the credit card, as I recall,
they require your bank account info. No thanks! Not now, not ever! My
credit card has a whopping big amount available for use. I pay it in full
every month.

Nothing wrong with Paypal, but _if_ you're looking for alternatives,
other than a merchant account, consider Yahoo Wallet or PayDirect
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/paydirect/ -- Also PayQuake
http://www.payquake.com/ or Intellicollect
http://www.intelli-collect.com/index.html dynamic merchant accounts.

I have used Paypal since they were X.com. I have been happy with their service until yesterday, when I found out that the service does not work logically. . I had a bill that was $150, but only $130 in my paypal account. Instead of drafting my bank account for the remaining $20, they drafted for the whole $150, which made a problem with the checking account. Can you say NOT happy?
