centering for trimming

As I do not own a Grip, (and do not plan to get one!) let me add some =
general suggestions.

Of course tapping to center is wonderful and works perfectly. But some =
forms do not lend themselves to it.

1. Make chucks, you can bisque if you wish, on which you can invert =
your bowls and plates. Tapping such forms with uneven tops or edges =
into center is not hard then. But of course the chuck must be centered =
and attached to wheelhead.

2. For certain forms you will be repeating and repeating a specialized =
modeled chuck like a custom made mushroom may be useful.=20

3. Those dreadful styrofoam "peanuts" are wonderful here. Make a =
pillow out of them, stuff it inside the leather hard pot, invert the =
thing on wheel, and it will be quite easy to center and trim without =
damage to the lip.

A small level or two are really helpful here,.
